There are times an individual can say something to you so evil that all you can do is stare at them and at that moment God is saying, don’t say anything. Because what you’re about to say would cause the sky to open up and make Jesus return.
“Bearing with one another, and forgiving one another, if anyone has a complaint against another; even as Christ forgave you, so you also must do” Colossians 3:13.
Forgiving people, whether it’s friends or family, can be pretty darn hard. I mean sometimes they can really hurt you. I myself have been hurt a lot by people I trusted dearly. I’ve even been hurt and have hurt my friends at school a few times. It’s hard to forgive, and even if “all is forgiven” you still kinda hold a grudge against the person. You kinda don’t want to be around them or talk to them, even just hearing their voice can grind your gears. That’s why though we have to bear with it, we must forgive those who hurt us and just kinda try again. It’s not an easy thing to do but Christ forgave us, He died for us so we can be seen blameless before God. Well as always we are provided with some encouragement and incentive by the Bible. Isn’t that great! These things aren’t just shoved down our throats, we are given encouragement, instruction, and promises, but we must also beware the warnings.
“For if you forgive men their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you.”Matthew 6:14.
Ah but here’s a warning,in the same chapter too!
“ But if you do not forgive men their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses.”Matthew 6:15.
I believe we forgive not just to make peace, but because since God forgave us and we are to spread His word and share His love we must forgive others the same as we are forgiven.
“Take heed to yourselves. If your brother sins against you, rebuke him; and if he repents, forgive him.”Luke 17:3.
Yeah siblings can be annoying, and do things that hurt you, sometimes they hurt you worse than anyone else, but we have to do our best to forgive them, show our love no God’s love for them.
“And if he sins against you seven times in a day, and seven times in a day returns to you, saying, ‘I repent,’ you shall forgive him.” Luke 17:4.
But this kind of forgiveness,it seems impossible to us,even to me. How could you expect me to forgive my sibling if they hurt me so much again and again without any remorse? You wanna know how we are expected to do it? By prayer. In order to forgive someone like this we must pray for God to send His spirit to be in our hearts and pull us to forgive that unremorseful person, because we can not do it on our own.
WORD – for Friday 📖
Knock, Knock, It’s Me! Thursday Bible Blessings at Your Door. Today’s special delivery verse is from Matthew 16:13-19; When Jesus came to the region of Caesarea Philippi, he asked his disciples, “Who do people say the Son of Man is?” They replied, “Some say John the Baptist; others say Elijah; and still others, Jeremiah or one of the prophets.” “But what about you?” he asked. “Who do you say I am?” Simon Peter answered, “You are the Messiah, the Son of the living God.” Jesus replied, “Blessed are you, Simon son of Jonah, for this was not revealed to you by flesh and blood, but by my Father in heaven. And I tell you that you are Peter, and on this rock I will build my church, and the gates of Hades will not overcome it. I will give you the keys of the kingdom of heaven; whatever you bind on earth will be bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth will be loosed in heaven.
